John Chiara at Ogden Museum of Southern Art
Photographs by John Chiara will be on view in New Southern Photography at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA, from October 6, 2018 – March 10, 2019. The exhibition brings together 25 contemporary artists that representing the diversity of photographic output occurring in the American South. John Chiara’s first book, John Chiara: California, was launched by Aperture on November 20, at 7pm, with an artist talk and book signing. The monograph includes landscape and architectural photographs taken in the artist’s hometown of San Francisco and other locations along the Pacific Coast, with an essay by J. John Chiara was the keynote speaker at the Filter Photo Festival at Columbia College in Chicago, IL on September 22, 2017. In culmination of the May 2017 cycle of The Budapest Art Factory International Artist and Curator Residency Program, John Chiara displayed new work alongside paintings by American artist Damian Stamer. On view from May 31 – June 6, 2017 at the BAF, the joint exhibition included large-scale diptychs made by Chiara in the Hungarian capital.
