Photographs from Doug Rickard’s series A New American Picture are on view in [Space] Street. Life. Photography. Seven Decades of Street Photography at the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Germany, from June 8 – October 21, 2018. The exhibition presents the work of 52 photographers who are revisiting and redefining the practice of street photography as a departure from Cartier-Bresson’s “decisive moment”. Book works by Doug Rickard and Mark Ruwedel were on view in American Surfaces and the Photobook, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City through May 28, 2018. The exhibition, presented in conjunction with the exhibition Stephen Shore and comprised of objects from the MoMA collection, saluted the evolution of the photobook medium. Photographs from Doug Rickard’s A New American Picture series were included in The Photographic I: The Pull of the World, on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art (S.M.A.K.) in Ghent, Belgium from September 23, 2017 through January 7, 2018. A survey of the photographic medium, the exhibition examined the current status of the documentary image, including photographs by Lewis Baltz, Tina Barney, Mohammed Bourouissa, Roni Horn, Malick Sidibé and Wolfgang Tillmans.
