• About Yossi Milo

Founded in 2000, Yossi Milo is dedicated to discovering, supporting, and representing artists from around the globe. In 2012, the gallery moved into its current space at 245 10th Avenue to match its rigorous and ambitiously evolving program. Established as a premier photography gallery with a long history of exhibiting important and cutting-edge photographers, the gallery has expanded its program in recent years to cultivate a dynamic roster of artists working in all media.

For over two decades, Yossi Milo has undertaken a number of groundbreaking projects and mounted seminal exhibitions by artists such as Kohei Yoshiyuki, whose 2007 show The Park was named by Vince Aletti as "one of the season's most sensational" for The New Yorker. Featuring photographs of Tokyo's underground nightlife, this exhibition brought international attention to the artist, who had not shown work publicly since his contentious debut in Japan in 1979. Similarly, the gallery presented Pieter Hugo's debut solo exhibition, The Hyena and Other Men, in New York in 2007, which introduced the artist to international audiences and established him as one of the foremost photographers of his generation. Representing the estates of Ezra Stoller (1915-2004) and Tim Hetherington (1970-2011), the gallery continues to champion and uplift the legacies of significant and innovative figures working in the medium of photography.

Yossi Milo has recently developed its program to support a range of artistic projects across all backgrounds. The exhibition Intimacy brought together over seventy artworks from across five decades to trace the multigenerational impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis and articulate a new movement of queer art today. In 2023, multimedia artist Shikeith curated the gallery's summer group exhibition. Opening the fall season, Kathrin Linkersdorff presented her debut solo exhibition in New York, which coincided with her debut museum show at Deichtorhallen Hamburg. The season continued with Pierre Knop's second solo exhibition at the gallery,  followed by Linus Borgo's solo exhibition of new oil paintings and first-ever sculptural works.

The gallery has co-published a number of acclaimed and award-winning monographs with Radius Books, most recently including Compendium 1898-1919 by Alison Rossiter, Littoral Drift/Ecotone and Ice by Meghann Riepenhoff and The Park by Kohei Yoshiyuki, among others. In the Fall of 2024, the gallery will co-publish Cameron Welch's first monograph Mosaics with Radius Books.
