By the Sea

Yossi Milo Gallery is pleased to announce By The Sea, a group show which will run from Thursday, June 19 until Thursday, July 31, 2003, with an opening reception on Thursday, June 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

By The Sea concentrates on images of people at the water's edge engaged in a variety of activities. The sea has long been a place for solitude and contemplation as well as a place to gather for leisure and play. Works in By The Sea range from the blurry, emotional images by Bill Jacobson, to the sharp stillness of Rineke Dijkstra's beach portraits. The pieces in the exhibition reveal many ways to inhabit the beach, from the singular quietness of Richard Misrach to the broad masses gathered in Massimo Vitali's beach scene.
