Shikeith’s debut monograph Notes Towards Becoming a Spill has been recognized by Time Magazine as one of the Best Photo Books of 2022. TIME recognizes this volume as “striking,” as it “unpacks the complex history of desire while exploring a narrative of Black masculinity.” Shikeith is included among 20 other photographers, including Carrie Mae Weems, Yelena Yemchuk, Clifford Prince King, and Wendy Red Star. Notes towards Becoming a Spill was published this year by Aperture and explores Shikeith’s signature themes of the sacred and romantic inner worlds of Black Queer men through portraiture.
