Shikeith's photograph The Adoration (never knew love like this before) is featured on the cover of liquid blackness Volume 7, Issue 1, published by Duke University Press. It opens guest editor James Tobias's introduction to the volume, "Black and Queer, Music on Screen: Distanced Derivations," along with analysis of Shikeith's 2014 film #blackmendream.
On "The Adoration," Tobias writes: "Here blue-tinted hands embrace a man from behind. His eyes are closed and his head tilted slightly back in pleasure, perhaps combined with relief, his natural hair shading into the black background in the penumbra of a chiaroscuro halo, as if a properly historical need were articulated and satisfied, surprising and familiar in the manner that a club anthem can come as pleasure and relief at the moment of its recognition and recall rather than in some erotic spectacle."
