Work by Anoushka Mirchandani is included in VISIBLE/INVISIBLE: Representation of Women in Art through the MAP Collection, a group exhibition at The Museum of Art & Photography in Bangalore, India, on view from February 18, 2023 - December 1, 2025.
VISIBLE/INVISIBLE is a three-year-long exhibition that explores the representation of women in art, drawing from a diverse collection spanning from the 10th century to the contemporary era. Featuring approximately 130 artworks—including sculptures, textiles, posters, paintings, and photographs—it seeks to challenge traditional notions of femininity and gender as social constructs. Through four thematic sections—Goddess and Mortal, Sexuality and Desire, Power and Violence, and Struggle and Resistance—the exhibition highlights the often male-dominated lens of artistic representation and offers counter-narratives that bring forward women's stories of sacrifice, desire, struggle, and power dynamics. By presenting a more inclusive understanding of gender, VISIBLE/INVISIBLE encourages reflection on the complex history of women’s portrayal in art, particularly within the context of the Indian subcontinent.
