Works by Shikeith and Richard-Jonathan Nelson are included in Transcendence: A Century of Black Queer Ecstasy, 1924-2024, on view at the University of Austin, Texas' Art Galleries at Black Studies from January 24 through March 8, 2025. 
 
This multi-venue exhibition presents an incredible 59 artworks across three gallery spaces– Christian–Green Gallery, Idea Lab, and Visual Arts Center.
 
By centering Blackness and queerness, "Transcendence" considers the potential of queer perspectives around the paradoxes of pleasure and pain, excess and lack, and autonomy and dependence. Featuring 50 participating artists, this expansive survey brings a together a wide variety of creative perspectives from the last 100 years.
