The vision: Mil Bodron, founding principal and designer of the firm Bodron/Fruit, sought to create a comfortable space where the clients’ family could gather — while keeping sight lines open to the room’s art and the lush outdoors.
Design details: “The furnishings are a mix of old and new, combining different styles from modern Americana to ’50s European,” notes Bodron. “Muted fabric tones of gray, blue and pink allow the large works by Kathrin Linkersdorff and James Surls to take center stage. The linen-topped coffee table by Joseph Jeup and the patterned wool rug by Holland & Sherry help add a relaxed, casual feel to the overall space.”
Why it’s a favorite: Bodron points to the mix of furnishings and the connection the room has to the outdoors. “It’s a functional and beautiful space that the clients adore and use on a daily basis.”
Takeaway tip: “Don’t be afraid to mix and match different styles of furniture — just make sure the scales all work together," he says.
