A special edition catalogue raisonné of works by Markus Brunetti, FACADES I + II, is published on the occasion of the artist’s fourth solo show with Yossi Milo. The catalogue, available in an edition of 99 copies, is presented in two volumes and documents the entirety of the ongoing FACADES series (2005-2026). Each volume comprises 66 of Brunetti’s 132 photographic works, and shows every European cathedral, church, monastery, and synagogue the artist has meticulously documented to date.
Through a devotional attention to detail, these photographic works convey the reverence inherent in the architecture. Centered composition, reduced perspective, and neutral lighting lend the works a clarity and quiet monumentality. The FACADES is not merely a photographic series but an embodied practice. Brunetti’s nomadic lifestyle has carried the FACADES across Europe, evoking the historical traditions of spiritual pilgrimage and the Grand Tour.
